Welcome to a special, Thankful Sunday edition of the Dysfunction Junkies podcast. We may not have seen it all, but we've seen enough. And now here are your hosts, Chrissy and Keri.
Speaker 2:Hello, happy Sunday everybody. I'm Keri and I'm Chrissy Thankful, thankful, thankful. I cannot believe it is the end of September already, I know, but we have so much to be thankful for. Yes, we do so. First of all, we celebrated this past month our 50th episode and now we're actually on 60 episodes, so thankful for that. Thank you for all for listening to us and letting us get this far.
Speaker 1:Yes, thank you what? Else, we got Chrissy. Well, we've got an increase in followers, which we appreciate. We love to see that number continue to go up. We received some feedback from some listeners, especially that traumatic episode about things that they were so happy to show us in school that stuck with us forever. That stupid movie.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the stupid movies.
Speaker 1:Shout out to Krista sharing. I believe it was in her fifth grade class that she had to watch something that obviously stuck with her her whole life too, and she shared that story with us, so thank you for that. Yes, we've got some new cities to talk about. We love seeing new cities. We've got how many? Now we're at 191.
Speaker 2:Nine more cities and we have 200.
Speaker 1:I know, yes, that's great and we're going to do it Well, we'll go even beyond that. Yes, that's great and we're going to do it, we're going to well, we'll go even beyond that. But some new cities to mention Queen Creek, arizona, yes, ann Arbor, michigan, mm-hmm. Weatherford, texas, and Queens, new York. That's exciting. And so thank you and welcome and keep listening. Also, we got more listeners coming in from Ireland, sweden and India.
Speaker 2:That is amazing. I just can't get over it. But here's another big one. We have a new country. We're now in 12 countries. Chrissy, go who. We got Singapore, singapore. I can't get over it, I know, I love it, I know.
Speaker 1:I love it.
Speaker 2:I just, oh, I keep asking everybody tell us why, how, how did you find us? What do you love? Somebody please respond to this. Send us a message on Facebook, send us an email, whatever. I want to know how these countries different found us.
Speaker 1:I just think it's fascinating, it is, and we would love to hear, maybe, some of your experiences. You're in a different country, although I think we share a lot of things that are very similar. We would love to hear about some things and how it affected you or what do you find that's funny that you learned from growing up that you're like man. This sounds like this is probably dysfunctional, but this is how it made me who I am. We would really love to hear all of that.
Speaker 2:Because I'm sure there's cultural differences.
Speaker 1:Oh, very much so.
Speaker 2:So I would love to get the other sides of it. Yeah, yes, and we also had our 2,500 download.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we're pretty past that now. I know that's awesome. Another milestone for us.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so in August we launched our Junkies Care Initiative and in September our main focus was for canine companions. So we want to thank everyone who came out and met us while we had the Dog Fest event in New Albany, ohio. We're going to talk more about that event in October. One of our episodes we're going to dedicate to that, so we'll talk about that. But again, thank you for all. And next month, on October 1st, we'll be debuting who our next organization is, so you need to make sure you tune in to listen to that. But we also had our new website, so we're thankful for that getting done. Dysfunction, junkies podcast, calm. So, yeah, there's so much to be thankful for.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, we are very lucky and we're lucky to have you guys out there listening to us and we are enjoying bringing our topics to you and discussing how we feel about them and we're just really enjoying the whole whole thing.
Speaker 2:Absolutely. But we are looking to because in October we'll be wrapping up our first year. I can't believe we've been doing this for a year it's crazy, I know.
Speaker 2:So we're trying to think of things to do for season two, which will begin in November, so but one of the things we're talking about is maybe doing like a real or a clip of all of our our best quotes. You know, if there's something that you heard on here that's one of our quotes that sticks with you, or whatever, give us, let us know. If there's something that you heard on here that's one of our quotes that sticks with you, or whatever, give us, let us know and we can make sure that's maybe in our new trailer reel for the episodes or for the podcast. So we want to know that. And then any other topics you know. So we are also getting into Chrissy's favorite time of the year.
Speaker 1:Well, actually it's the end of September, yes, so I mean Christmas is here.
Speaker 2:And by Christmas you also mean Halloween. Well, halloween's over.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean, even though it's a month away.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's over. It's basically it's old news, because we got into Halloween back in July, I know so. I was texting Chrissy pictures in July of all of the Halloween things that were popping up in the stores already I'm like, oh my God, Chrissy has started and I am such a victim to this and it's my own fault, and I know that having this stuff out on social media it serves its purpose and it does its damage.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean watching these people go and get this stuff and create their own decorations and their own little charcuterie boards with seasonal themes, and I'm a sucker taking it all in. And then I flip the phone up and move on to the next thing and I'm like you know what? That seems like such a great idea. And then I'm like I'm just exhausted at the thought of it, I am not doing it, but you do you and I'll appreciate watching you do you.
Speaker 1:But I really just want shortcuts to everything and that seems very dedicated.
Speaker 2:Yes, that is true, I will say. You know, last year we talked about how Carrie doesn't decorate for much, if anything, and how lately I haven't even been decorating for Christmas or whatever. I have decided that I think this year, for the holiday season, I'm going to go all out. No, you're are you really I am, oh my gosh, I am.
Speaker 2:There's twofold though for why I'm going to go all out. No, you're, are you really I am, oh my God I am. There's twofold though for why I'm doing it. One reason is because we are actually going to be home from Thanksgiving to New Year's. We're not doing any traveling. Oh OK, we are going to do some traveling the week before Thanksgiving, but otherwise we're going to be home.
Speaker 2:So that was always part of why I wouldn't, because I'm like, well, we're not going to be home and why pull that up if we're not going to be home or whatever? So, one, we're going to be home, but two, I'm kind of going through this stage of where I'm purging things, I'm decluttering the house and I'm getting rid of things. You know, I'm really going through the house. The largest amount of boxes in my basement have to do with Christmas ornaments and Christmas stuff. So I thought if I get it all out this year, then I will purge what I, what no longer serves me, or what I don't want to keep, or do I really need that, or you know, whatever. So my plan is to get it all out, put it all up and then, when I put it away. Only put away what I'm going to keep and and donate. Yeah, I see, nick, yeah, I wish you could see this.
Speaker 1:I feel the look. I can feel you looking at me. Okay, I can feel it, carrie, what a great idea. What do you think, chrissy? Sounds wonderful, sounds wonderful.
Speaker 2:I can feel your look.
Speaker 2:I feel like John Travolta in Pulp Fiction when he tells Jules, I can feel you looking at me okay feel it this is one of those times I wish one of us had our phones off the because if you were to see nick's look I knew it, not even looking his way. I knew it and I'm like he is gonna say something yeah, so this year I plan to put myself through, because you always say I don't suffer enough during the holidays well, decorating is a big part of that suffering process.
Speaker 2:So last year you were like Carrie's not suffering enough. She gets tattoos, but clearly, if you listen to the tattoo episode, I wasn't suffering when I got that, I was enjoying it.
Speaker 1:I feel that I suffer more with my decorating process than the tattoos seem like a piece of cakewalk. Yeah, no, that sounds wonderful. Again, with the social media overwhelming and stressing me out and making me feel like and I used to do a lot I sort of pulled back a little bit. But what's up with the two trees? Now People put one tree on each side of their fireplace. Oh, isn't it enough that?
Speaker 2:I have to do Now.
Speaker 1:I'm like man that looks really beautiful he would. Could you see me coming home with another tree and be like he's like what are you doing Where's? Echo and I'm like on the other side.
Speaker 2:You'll be like Carrie was getting rid of some of her stuff. She got rid of her tree. I took it.
Speaker 1:It won't happen. It will not happen. Symmetry doesn't have to be part of christmas, so you don't need symmetry. Okay, all right, you're right. A lot of times I do see these trees, though, and they basically only just have the lights and maybe a little bit of uh, garland on them. They're not like overly done with like ornaments or anything, so I guess I can kind of see how it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but that's the minimalist view of you know I don't have enough room in my 1900 farmhouse to have a christmas tree on both sides. So yeah, that's not gonna happen. But yeah, no, I just, I just brought it up as if it's definitely helping out that industry I guess when they're like one tree two come on everyone.
Speaker 2:I do see where people tend to put like one tree in the house and maybe another tree like on their patio, enclosure, their enclosed patio. Like you know so I've seen two trees, like in two different areas of the house, but not two trees in the same room.
Speaker 1:Yeah, well, this is what I've been seeing. I have in the past seen and I think I've even done that in the past where, like, maybe there was part of the house where you can't really, you don't have the field of vision to see the tree that you might have in your living room or family room, right, so you're like, oh, I'm in the back of the house, maybe I have like a dining area, so you put one there to stay festive over there too. So yeah, I've seen that.
Speaker 2:Well, very good, we have a lot to look forward to. So we're thankful for this first amazing year that we are broaching on our podcast and for all of you and all of you listening. So thankful for everything. We hope you have a wonderful Sunday and we look forward to touching base with you next episode.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we do. Everybody enjoy the end of the month, Go apple picking or something that's popular right now. I guess yes, absolutely.
Speaker 2:All right, everyone, we'll talk to you later. Goodbye, bye.
