Welcome to a special thankful Sunday edition of the Dysfunction Gunkies Podcast. We may not have seen it all, but we've seen enough. And now here are your hosts, Christy and Carrie. Well, I gave you all my love and I gave you all my trust.
KERRY:I gave you every girl that I need. Hi everybody. This is Carrie.
CHRISY:And this is Christy.
KERRY:It's Thankful Sunday. It's also the week of Thanksgiving.
CHRISY:Boo. No. Well, I don't know what to feel anymore with holidays. They're so uh, you know, I'm supposed to feel like Christmas at Halloween. I don't know what I'm supposed to feel at Thanksgiving. I'm not sure. New Year's, I don't know.
KERRY:Anxiety, dismay. I feel anxiety and dismay all the time. So, but today we're thankful. Okay.
CHRISY:Yeah, let's be thankful.
KERRY:Yeah, let's be thankful. Today it's Thankful Sunday. And wow, we have experienced some growth over this past month, haven't we, Chrissy?
CHRISY:Yeah, quite a bit. I would have to say I'm very shocked. Not shocked. I'm very pleased.
KERRY:Very pleased. And Chrissy's trying to uh I'm trying to keep Chrissy from being uh overthinking things because she's trying to analyze everything, and I'm like, just be thankful. So it's a tough one for me, but I'll you can keep trying. So we are now not only are I mean we started being international, but oh my god, 15 countries. Yeah, we have some new countries. Chrissy, do you have a list of who all is new since we last spoke?
CHRISY:I have uh a bunch of new cities, and I do have the countries. I can fire off the cities first if you want.
KERRY:Yeah, do the cities where we're new at because we're now in 34 states and uh 205 US cities.
CHRISY:So go for it. What's new? Well, uh, Maryland and Nebraska were new states in general. Yes. But we have Monroe, Michigan. Is it Lavonia, Michigan? Lavonia? That's Lavonia. I bet it's Lavonia. Okay. Durham, North Carolina, Davenport, Florida, Whittier, North Carolina, Key West, Florida. Nice. Columbus, Georgia. I feel funny saying all that. There's a lot. It's I'm not complaining, but it's just so funny because I just keep shouting out different. That's okay. Woohoo! Uh Columbus, Georgia, uh, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Santa Clara, California. We have over uh in Russia, we got Moscow. Yes. So I We already had Russia, so I listed that as just our one of our new cities. Yes, exactly. Springfield, Nebraska. Yes. Decalb, Illinois. Uh, and I apologize to anybody if I mispronounce your uh city name. We definitely trying to make sure we say it correctly. Marysville, Ohio. And this is we already had Canada, but now we have uh Toronto, Ontario, and Kissimmee, Florida, and Fenton, Michigan. Is it Kissimmee or is it Kissimmee? Oh boy. Kissimmee sounds correct, actually. I think you're right.
KERRY:I do, because actually I used to live down that way, and I think it's actually I think they say it Kissimmee, but yes. You lived in Florida? Yeah, when was that? For like six, seven months when I was going back in between that marine water park that I used to work at, and I would go from Ohio to Florida and I would live back and forth. So gotcha. Yes.
CHRISY:Okay. Mm-hmm. Okay, so yeah, so those that's a very healthy list. It is a healthy list. And we thank everybody out there. Thank you.
KERRY:Yes. So in some of our other countries, we know we have Brazil now, that's one of our new countries, and not only like it's all over the map in Brazil. Yeah. And so again, apologies for the possible mispronunciation. I will I will attempt my habla espanol.
CHRISY:Uh oh no, it would be in Brazil, it would be Portuguese.
KERRY:Oh, it did be Portuguese. See, and there you go. I've already insulted our Brazilian.
CHRISY:I know that specifically because I had a lovely friend growing up who was an exchange student and uh and she lived in Brazil for six months. And I she has gone back and is uh fluent from her visit in Portuguese, I believe.
KERRY:Okay, so in Brazil we have Console La Fayete, and we have Fortaleza, we have Sierra and Yacinto Machado, Santa Catarina, and Gramado Rio Grande do Sol.
CHRISY:We are so sorry. We're not we're laughing at us. Oh, totally laughing at us. Because I would have done nothing different. I mean, yeah. I wish I had my friend who lived over there. She would just rattle those off with the issue.
KERRY:Fluency, right? Right. So now this next one I think I can probably say better. So our another new country is Kenya, and it's Narobi Kenya. Yes. So youhoo. Uh it's got another another country there. And then in uh Denmark we have Odense South Denmark. So Or Odense, maybe. I don't know if they say it. Yeah, maybe they do say that. Sorry again, Denmark.
CHRISY:Everybody we love you. We love you. Just uh we promise we will work harder at our pronunciations. You guys gotta keep uh tuning in to hear us uh improve ourselves.
KERRY:Exactly, exactly. So so yeah, it's pretty exciting. Uh again, I just every time I see these different cities pop up in these different countries and these different states, I am just so thankful. And it just makes my heart so happy to know that there's our people are out there, Chrissy.
CHRISY:They are they're out there, and it's just they have really good taste and they want to laugh, and that's why we want to do this because we think everybody wants to and deserves a good laugh.
KERRY:Yes, absolutely. And so what we're going to do is I just reached out to our website company that's handling our website, Instant WebMakers, and I told them I want a map on our website that we can list all of these different cities, states, countries, um, of where our listenership is. So we're we're gonna put something up there and just so we can kind of keep track and uh give a shout out to all of you that are listening because we we want to know that we hear you just like you are hearing us, and so we're gonna put that on the website. Hopefully, within the next well, probably hopefully by the time this airs, you'll you'll be able to see that. Yes, that would be wonderful. Yeah. What are you doing this week to prepare for the week of Thanksgiving?
CHRISY:Well, trying to establish whatever dishes I could pre-mit, you know, yeah, make ahead of time. Yeah. Because I usually make myself crazy on the day and make everything all on that one day. Yeah. It's usually just uh mm my husband and the kids. Yeah. So it's not like I'm preparing for a large group, thank goodness. Right. Although, usually if you have a large group, people bring stuff. People bring stuff. Right. So now it's all on you. It might be more difficult when it's just the group, your small group, because you kind of just have the one person doing it. Your um, my husband tries to be a good six chef. Oh, good. Good job, TJ Nick. He will try to do what he can. So, but there's a lot of things I need to really try to retrain myself that I can make ahead of time. Yeah, and then just heat up and get your turkey done because turkey has to rest. Yeah. So uh I'm just trying to organize myself, I guess.
KERRY:Well, I did help you out a little bit. I brought you that side dish today.
CHRISY:Yes. Carrie was so kind to bring me a nice little uh, I guess it's a pint size of some lovely sauerkraut. Sauerkraut. So now I gotta go and get some kibasa to get going in that sauerkraut.
KERRY:It was funny. I was going through a little farm market that's up by me, and they had these signs everywhere about oh, fresh made sauerkraut, sauerkraut, sauerkraut. And what's the first thing that came to my mind? Me. Christy! Yes, of course. I brought it over to her today to go. Here you got this to add to your Thanksgiving dinner. Oh, we'll be thinking about that all day.
CHRISY:It's never gonna make it to Thanksgiving. Are you kidding me? Never.
DJ NICK:Ain't gonna make it to the end of the day.
KERRY:We might be uh taking a break, Karen. She's gonna be heating it up. It smelled very heavenly.
CHRISY:To me, it smelled very heavenly.
KERRY:I just will always forever hear you saying it's of the earth.
CHRISY:It is, it is, it's a very earthly food. We thank the earth for providing us with sauerkraut. Absolutely. And grain and all the other stuff, too, I guess, right?
KERRY:And grain. And grain. Sauerkraut and grain. And wheat. And uh let's see, what do we make whiskey out of? Like barley or oats or something. So I'll be thankful for that, right?
CHRISY:Rye, barley. Oh, well, for beer, yeah.
KERRY:For thanks thankfulness Sunday today. I am now also thankful for something new that came out. It is chocolate crown. Crown Royal. Oh, I've been seeing little my lant up.
CHRISY:Different types of uh concoctions being made, uh potions and stuff like that. With this, uh the crown really does seem to uh come out with the flavors. I know. I wasn't sure about the big deal.
KERRY:Yeah, no, peaches are right. And the blackberry I really loved. I will have to give a shout out to my realtor, Melinda Conkar, because she does this little thing called cocktails, mocktails, and home sales. Did you see it?
CHRISY:I watched it, yes.
KERRY:So she does a little cocktail for every house that she's selling. And since our farm is up for sale, and she was asking me like what our theme or feel was, and I open up my liquor closet. I can't say cabinet because it's kind of like many shelves. It's more like a liquor closet. And there's all these different types of whiskey and rum, and I mean like lots of different types of whiskey and rum and crown and stuff. And so she told me about the chocolate crown. So she created a farm teeny.
CHRISY:I do.
KERRY:And so it's the chocolate crown, and it's let me think if I can remember banana cream pie moonshine. Yes, where did she score that? A state liquor store. You know, you can find that at the local grocery store, I don't think. So, but in any case, very good. So I think that is definitely gonna be my uh drink of choice on Thanksgiving. So what about the other stuff? Oh, the Mogan David. Seem to have to have the we will definitely have the Mogan David on the show.
CHRISY:Are we going to sisters again?
KERRY:We are going to sisters, so we'll have to see what you know what church strays show up this year. Shout out, yes, shout out to my sister. Nuns on the run coming. You never know. Nuns on the run could be there. Yes.
CHRISY:You call them the church strays. You already said church trays.
KERRY:Yes, church trays. But you know, here's the other big reason why I did totally actually invite myself already to my sisters is because I've packed up my entire kitchen. So there ain't no coming to my house for dinner because I have nothing. How nice you've absolved yourself of that whes possibility.
CHRISY:What have you packed up so far? Well, the kitchen. So can I come? You got dinner happening?
KERRY:Because I really could be and the craziest thing is like I hardly bake anymore. I love to bake, but I hardly bake anymore. All of a sudden, I have this need that I really want to bake. Like, I texted her going, I want an apple dumpling recipe for mom, and you know, all this stuff. And I'm like, what am I thinking? I have nothing. I I I don't have a rolling pin, I don't have nothing. So told her I said anything I bring is gonna be courtesy of Sam's Club because um I can't bake or cook anything. But I can bring the Mogan David and I can bring the farm teenies. So I think that will probably be very appreciated.
CHRISY:I'm just wondering what kind of sign I would have to put on my door. Not to be mean, but you know how like sometimes people have signs on their door that say no solicitors? Yes. How what sign do I have to put on my door to to sort of keep the church trays from soliciting my house? Do they do they m go from uh house to house? Or they just they got your number.
KERRY:They just they they know that there's an open invitation that that like you know, it's kind of like the Underground Railroad. People just knew what houses were safe houses. So the church trays just know what house they can go. That they're welcome always. Well, I know, I'm sure.
CHRISY:And it's not because I'm not nice or welcoming, but you just don't want to be in in this madhouse on, especially not on a holiday.
DJ NICK:So well like that that Carrie's on the same level as Harriet Tubman.
KERRY:That's you know I did not mean to do that. Oh my gosh, no. Just was making an analogy. What's wrong with that? Nothing at all. I just wonderful. No, she was just of much higher caliber than I was not trying to make myself a well, anyways, we are so thankful to everybody. We hope everyone has a wonderful week. We will be coming at you with a special Thanksgiving episode this Wednesday. So be sure to tune in. And then also don't forget this month we are supporting Sleep in Heavenly Peace. So they are an organization that is nationwide here in the United States. They provide beds to children. You can check out their website or you can go directly to our website, uh dysfunction Junkies Podcast.com, to learn more about them. See how you can support them, maybe volunteering, doing a bed build, or just simply donating money to help them provide a bed for a child in need. But other than that, have a great week, everybody. Bye!
